How One Youth Club Turned Trading Cards Into €1,940 for Their Club in Just 2 Weeks

(And Why Their Players Won’t Stop Talking About Them)
When Fornebu FK decided to launch their first-ever custom player trading cards, they weren’t sure if anyone would buy them.
They knew the kids would love them — what young player wouldn’t want their own official card?
But would parents actually pay for them? Would it be worth the effort?
The Problem
Clubs are always looking for ways to raise money, but traditional fundraisers take a lot of work and rarely excite the players.
They needed something that:
-
Was fast to set up
-
Didn’t require upfront costs
-
Actually got players hyped and parents eager to buy
The Sportiverso Drop
In early April, Fornebu FK partnered with Sportiverso to launch a 14-day Trading Card Drop.
Here’s how it worked:
-
Every player got their own card — name, number, position, and photo
-
Parents pre-ordered online — no paper forms, no cash handling
-
Direct delivery — cards shipped straight to the club or the customer
Each card came in a collector’s sleeve and was part of an official “Fornebu FK 2025” set.
The Results
In just two weeks:
-
124 sets sold
-
€1,240 in profit to the club
-
100% participation from players and parents
Why It Worked
-
Player Pride: Kids were showing their cards at school, trading duplicates, and collecting every teammate’s card.
-
Limited Edition: The 2025 set would never be reprinted — parents didn’t want their child to miss out.
-
Zero Risk: No stock to manage, no leftover inventory.
What the Club Said
"This is the first fundraiser where the kids were more excited than the parents. The buzz it created in the team was incredible."
